Kirjath Jearim Mission School

Kirjath Jearim is an important city of Israel and holds Biblical importance for the art of the Divine sacred Chest which remained there for many years. Prophet Samuel had started one of the earliest education institutions at Kirjath Jearim to mould the youth by imparting moral and spiritual teaching to them for the future prosperity of the nation.

Here, in Nagaland, Kirjath Jearim Mission School was established in the year 2008 with the motto, “Vincit Labor”, which translates to ‘labour overcomes’ and the emblem, “The rising sun encircled the cross”. Kirjath Jearim Mission School is a private institution sponsored by Liangmai Baptist Phumling (Church) and is administered and governed autonomously by the school managing board laissez-faire.

The aim of the school is to mould the pupils to be successful and responsible citizens in society. The managing board strives to build excellent all-rounders effective in all spheres of life. We hope that these children will be able to use their full mental capability, along with building a very good moral character and discipline. We teach them to be steadfast in their faith in the Almighty God.

In order to train these children, presently there are 11 teaching staff and 3 Non teaching staff (The Principal, Accountant and the Chowkidar). There are 7 members in the school Managing Board. The total strength of students is 178 from Nursery to Class VIII.

Amongst the students, we have many needy children: orphans, abandoned children, poorest of the poor and children from big families. These children are unable to pay the minimal school fee of Rs 300/- per month. This creates a big problem for us because then the teachers cannot be paid their salary. Neither do we have the heart to throw them out from school even though they do not pay the fees month after month.

With such a situation, we as a school were very happy when we heard of Eleazer’s work. The fact that they have taken 30 children under their wing is a true blessing for the child, the parent, the school and the society at large.

On behalf of the Eleazer children, the head of the institution along the school Managing Board express a deep gratitude to the Eleazer Trust for lifting up the needy in our society.
